Data protection is the seventh Foundational CIS Control and is used to prevent your data from being exploited, lessen the effects if it is exploited, and ensure your sensitive information is kept intact. Data Protection is most impactful when a company has taken action against the first twelve CIS Controls (following the CIS Top 20 Cybersecurity Controls).
